Spooky City Scavenger Hunt Party

Free entry with registration, between 2 PM and 5 PM the Museum of the City of New York is inviting families to dress up and go trick or treating at the museum. Along the way you’ll hear various scary stories and decorate your own pumpkin inspired by some of the exhibits. And of course, no family Halloween event is ever really complete without a Monster Mash dance party.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Daytime Guided Tour

Not exactly terrifying, but certainly in keeping with the spooky theme of the day, the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Daytime Guided Tour is as educational as it is entertaining. The two-hour walk begins at the resting place of Washington Irving, author of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, then moves on to the Receiving Vault, industrialist Andrew Carnegie’s grave, and finally the Rockefeller family mausoleum. The tour costs $19.99 and requires advanced reservations.

The 45th Annual Village Parade

New York’s premiere Halloween event, anyone in costume is invited to join the march while thousands of onlookers cheer from the roadside. This year will see 35 bands and hundreds of puppets join artists and dancers for a cornucopia of colors and creativity. The fun starts at 7 PM, but you’ll want to find a good spot a little before then. If you want to take part, it is highly recommended you visit their website for more information.
